Your instructor may notify you that you must use Respondus Lockdown Browser to take your quiz or exam. Please refer to the Lockdown Browser – Getting Started for Students. The method to access your quiz or exam will depend on which version of Canvas Quizzes your instructor is using. Visually, you cannot determine which quizzing engine your instructor is using until you click into the quiz. You will not need to install Respondus Lockdown Browser more than once, but your will either access the application from your normal browser or through your applications menu.
Lockdown Browser and New Quizzes. When you access a quiz or exam created as a Quizzes.Next (New Quizzes), Canvas will open a new browser and prompt you to download Respondus Lockdown Browser. Download and install Respondus Lockdown Browser. Return to your Canvas course and launch your quiz or exam again. Downloading and installing Respondus LockDown Browser Go to your Canvas course site and click the quiz link. Click Take the Quiz. Click Download Respondus LockDown Browser. Download the latest Emory installer for Respondus LockDown Browser. Troubleshooting Respondus LockDown Browser. Blank screen during exam A blank screen indicates that the browser has lost connectivity with your institution's server, and the webpage cannot load into the browser. In most cases, you should be able to leave your exam, shut down.
Lockdown Browser and Canvas Classic Quizzes
When you access a quiz or exam created as a Classic Quiz, the displayed settings will let you know that Respondus Lockdown Browser is required.
To download Respondus Lockdown Browser, click Take the Quiz. The notice will indicate that you will need to access the quiz through Respondus Lockdown Browser.
The College uses Canvas to facilitate learning in an online format. All Internet, Hybrid, and Web-Enhanced classes are offered through this learning management system. You will log in to Canvas to access your classes each semester.

Lockdown Browser For Students Canvas
Course instructors will provide directions on getting started in Internet courses, including helpful information on dashboard navigation.
Most Internet classes require assignments to be completed with Microsoft Office 2010 or higher (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) unless specific software requirements are noted for each course.
Online Tests through Respondus LockDown Browser
Some tests may require the use of Respondus LockDown Browser. Respondus LockDown Browser is a secure browser for taking tests in Canvas. It prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a Canvas test requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser. Respondus LockDown Browser can only be used for taking Canvas tests.
Students must download LockDown Browser onto any computer where you will be taking an exam. Please follow the link provided below to download LockDown Browser. If you used LockDown Browser for testing at Alabama Southern, Faulkner State, or Jefferson Davis, you will need to delete the installation and download the new browser version for Coastal Alabama Community College.
